Adenbrook Homes are lovers of footy! Across the business there are many fans of the game, evident within the entertaining banter about the Adenbrook Homes Footy Tipping Competition each week. Our brand ambassador Scott Prince, who has completed a knockdown rebuild with Adenbrook Homes Gold Coast has this year taken on the role of coach for the Valleys Diehards Women’s team and as such invited us to participate as senior team club sponsors for 2021. The opportunity for us to support local within in our Brisbane and Gold Coast footprint was exciting while also allowing us to be involved with a club that is glittered with a rich history in Queensland Rugby League.
The Fortitude Valleys Diehards were formed as one of the first founding clubs of the QRL in 1908. It did not take long for the Diehards to establish their legendary name, taking top spot in their first Brisbane premiership season in 1909! Amongst a highly decorated past, the Diehards are proudly the most successful in the BRL with an exceptional 25 First Grade Premierships in their club history. The almighty gladiator is a symbol of the club’s core principles of sportsmanship, passion and pride, all attributes that are synonymous with Adenbrook Homes core beliefs.
The Diehards won the bid to compete in Women’s 2021 BHP Premiership, after the cancellation of the inaugural season in 2020 due to health concerns attributed to Covid-19. A momentous achievement for the club, as this will be the first Diehards A-Grade women’s team in 50 years.
Women’s Football Superstar Ali Brigginshaw leads the formidable First Grade Women’s team in the BHP Premiership, 2021. Ali has led the Brisbane Broncos to victory in the NRL Telstra Women’s Premiership for three consecutive years in a row (2018, 2019 and 2020). In 2020, she was awarded the Dally M medal, another outstanding career achievement for the Valley Diehard. Ali joins many of the leagues’ greats to wear the ‘Royal Blue’.
The Men’s A Grade Seniors will participate in the 2021 BRL Premiership. The BRL Premiership has a diverse past with many of Queensland’s great football stars finding their start at the Valleys. The Diehards have won multiple premiership titles with some of the greatest names in the league including Duncan Hall, Norm Pope, Mick Retchless, Marty Scanlan, Ross Strudwick, Gavin Allen, Mark Hohn and most formidably ‘The King,’ Wally Lewis. In fact, Wally signed up as a Valleys Junior and just like many of the Valleys great players, Wally went on to represent Queensland and Australia. Continuing Diehard family tradition, Wally’s daughter Jamie-Lee makes an exciting addition to the 2021 women’s team.
Scott and Ali also team up as part of the Beyond Broncos mentoring program, visiting schools across Queensland and encouraging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Year 10-12 students to stay in school and complete their studies for a brighter future.
We wish the senior teams all the best in the 2021 season and are proud to be affiliated with a club that has such a strong history of success and sportsmanship.
